When I was in high school, I went on a school trip to Germany during Oktoberfest. We went to the famous Hofbräuhaus München, which to this day, still stands out as one of the most memorable experiences in my life.
I’ve never been to The Alpine Village in Torrance, but I’ve definitely heard of it. Famous for hosting the oldest and longest-running Oktoberfest celebration in Southern California, Alpine Village celebrates in an authentic and modern way. I’m really excited to check this place out with some good friends of mine (with their kids) who invited us.
Sunday Family Days
All ages welcome Sundays, from September 11th – October 23. All other days are 21+
Free Parking
This is what the website says (I’m not sure what “impacted” parking means):
Parking is completely FREE though it is impacted. Arrive early for easy parking and, please, be kind to your fellow revelers and respect the surrounding neighborhood. Always have a designated driver (Discount DD tickets are available.) Uber and Lyft and Taxis are highly advisable.
Admission
Regular admission online is $8 per person, and children under 12 are free!
If you’re a designated driver, admission is only $3!
Beer & Wine
German beer, craft beer, wines, ciders, and more. Different tap takeovers scheduled throughout Oktoberfest!
I’m pretty sure I want to try the featured WARSTEINER beer from Germany!
Food
The menu features handcrafted sausages from The Alpine Market. Sausage choices are: Bratwurst, Polish, Spicy Chicken. Chicken and tri-tip round out the main dish options. As far as side dishes, I’m planning on ordering the deep fried pickles and German fried potatoes. I will definitely be hitting the gym extra hard after this visit!
Entertainment
Musicians, dancers, and funny hosts get the crowd going, but the highlight is the 12-piece Oom Pah bands we flown direct from Germany. Who doesn’t like an Oom Pah band?!
