Last Sunday, my family and I went on a short hike in Santa Clarita. It was a first visit for my 3-year old and I, but my husband has been there before. Because we didn’t have a lot of time, we went on the docent-recommended Ecology Trail behind the Nature Center [click for map]. We plan on returning, especially since it’s a very quick drive up the 405 on a Sunday. Here are some pics:
Animals at the Nature Center
We saw some birds in enclosed areas at the Nature Center, including this hawk. There is an adoption program where your donation will help feed and shelter these animals, which are used for educational and outreach programs.
Rock-lined Trail
Most of the trail is lined with rocks, which helps keep little feet on the path!
Animal Sightings
There are plenty of animals to see in nature. We were lucky to see this cool, blue bird. I forgot what it is called, but it’s quite common around this area.
Educational displays
This was a very cool educational display we saw on the path.
Picturesque Trail
Plenty of photo opportunities! Pants by The Sweet Potatoe (style: Kenzie Peacock Blue Lace)
Mini Bridges
Bring healthy, biodegradable snacks for sustenance!
Mild Inclines
The inclines were mild and kid-friendly.
We made it to the top!
Happy dance!
View from the top
This photo doesn’t do the beautiful view justice.
A little help on the decline from Daddy
A place to rest
She was comfortable on some rocks, but there are some benches along the path for resting.
Inside the Nature Center
Plenty of interactive buttons, flaps, and signs.
Rocks on display behind the Nature Center
So many cool rocks to explore!
