The Chinese Lantern Festival Will Light up the Night in Pomona Nov. 15 – Jan 6th

This season, we are invited to attend The Chinese Lantern Festival in Pomona. I know my daughter will be thrilled to see over 1,000 handcrafted lanterns fill the sky. These large-scale lanterns, ranging from 12 – 23 feet tall, combine art, tradition, and culture.

The theme for this year is “The Wild,” and features five locations – America, Oceana, Asia, Antartica, and Africa. Animal-shaped lanterns, representing wild animals (and dinosaurs!) from each region are the main attraction, but the festival will also feature food, Kung Fu shows, animatronic dinosaur rides, demonstrations, and shadow play for the kids. Arrive hungry to taste Asian and American cuisine, and be ready to browse or shop the craft marketplace where you will find authentic Chinese jewelry, artifacts, figurines, embroidery art, sugar art, fabric art, and more.
