I’ve heard about boarding or sledding on sand, but I didn’t try doing it until today. After the free sing-a-long at The Cow’s End, my daughter and I took our boogie board to the sand berms in Venice Beach.
Situated south of Venice fishing pier, the sand berms run the length of the nearby public parking lot.
During the week, you can easily find free parking in the neighborhood, making it an easy stroll to the berms.
We don’t own a sled, so we used our boogie board. The berms aren’t too high and the ride down was pretty slow, making it the perfect ride for my toddler. We slid down towards the boardwalk, which has a lower incline than waterside.
It entertained her for a while, and if it wasn’t so close to lunchtime, we would have stayed longer. We’ll definitely be back…maybe with a sled.
I hear Point Mugu State Park has steeper slopes and is open year round (Venice’s berms are seasonal). Even though it’s a bit of a drive, I might have to try it!
See you on the berms!
